supression system inside the tunnel was tripped accidently during routine maintenance.and crews had to manually override the system to stop the downpourduring which time the showers falling on drivers.appeared to be intermittent.until drying up in the early afternoon. officials say this is the first time this kind of glitch has happened since the tunnel opened in april 2012and they are working to try and make sure it's the last. engineers will be back overnight resetting and retesting the system.because of .one southbound lane will be closed from 11 pm tuesday unitl 5am wednesday morning. maureen kelly kron4 news. >> pam: developing news now. cal-trans begins repairs on the bay bridge. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc-7 news. you may recall, earlier this month, an oil tanker hit the eastern most tower, on the bridge's western span. damaging a bridge fender. repairs are expected to take about four- months. and cost between two- and- three million dollars.

monday night oakland police say, while investigating a shooting that occurred over the weekend as many as 5-men attacked the plain clothed officer while he sat in a parked car on seminary avenue >> he was in a traditional on marked car. he was a regular car. he was part of a police fleet that we have put together to address the city-wide violence. the officer provided a public safety statement. he revealed that he did not have an opportunity to return fire because of his experience. and his willingness to survive. we are fortunate that he was not injured more seriously. >> pam: 5 suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting incident. oakland police say, it is unclear at this point. whether or not. the suspects knew they were assaulting an undercover officer >> let me show you some

20 miles north of downtown houston. both suspects are in custody. >> pam: in bay area news. san jose police are hunting for at least three suspects in connection with a brazen home -invasion robbery. it happened monday evening, here on bret harte drive in san jose's almaden valley neighborhood. police say, three or four suspects tied up an elderly couple and then ransacked the home. making off with jewelry, other valuables and both family cars. police suspect the couple may have been targeted by the bandits, as neighbors expressed shock over what happened here. >> when they went after this whole old couple-the more i know about this this is a very the flint area. >> i worry that they try to do this again at the the next time it is possible that they escalate the violence. >> pam: the suspects are described only. as being
